The Ultimate Form of Flattery
Two years ago we trademarked the term "Enterprise Solutions for the Mid-Market”, which to Execupay was a primary focus for our sales initiatives.  In the market place what we saw were companies with over 1000 employees enjoying the benefits of enterprise solutions from ADP, Ceridian and Ultimate.  These solutions can often be powerful strategic human capital management software solutions that really help businesses make the most of their workforce.  Like most good ideas, large companies are targeted first because the cost of entry is so high, but as usual prices tend to move down and make the products available to smaller companies.  This is exactly where we saw the market opportunity, mid-market companies that have outgrown the simple "spreadsheet on steroids" approach to HR tools ADP, Paychex and others have made available for that market.

As a result Execupay released PlatinumHR with this exact focus in mind, a true enterprise level, strategically focused, single solution for payroll, HR and time & labor that was tailored to fit the specific needs of the progressive growing mid-market space, which we define as companies with 100-1000 employees.  This product has launched Execupay into new leagues and market spaces and can be attributed to a great portion of recent years growth for both Execupay Employer Services (www.execupay.com) and Execupay Software (www.execupaysoftware.com).

We were rewarded by this new initiative in several ways.  In the powerful market space of 100-1000, we have a distinct product-based competitive advantage.  We were further justified in our new market approach in the fact that a good percentage of our 50-99 employee clients also chose to take advantage of PlatinumHR, as well has many < 50 employee clients...as small as four employees!  This told us we were certainly not too early bringing this technology to this market space.

ADP has recently seen the same trends and has coincidentally termed their new WorkforceNow product "a Fortune 500 solution for mid-sized organizations."  Some say that imitation is the ultimate form of flattery, and in this case I would have to agree.  I received several emails, concerned about this new ADP initiative, however I quite disagree.  When was the last time ADP had any type of sales initiative that did not help independent payroll companies (Independents are non-public payroll companies, except Ceridian).  In the traditional cycle, ADP educates the market place and creates new demands and independents follow soon after to meet the demand.  This usually creates a scenario where Independents are always playing catch-up trying to meet new market demands.  It is not often we beat ADP at the marketing game (though we often beat them with service, products and price). This introduction of WorkforceNow will only create more demand for PlatinumHR, which is going to help us dramatically.

So the bottom line:  If you are currently providing your clients PlatinumHR, then ADP WorkforceNow will only help your PlatinumHR sales campaigns.  If you are not providing PlatinumHR to your clients, ADP WorkforceNow presents itself as another advantage that ADP has over you and a way for them to gain access to what is likely your most valuable (or highest revenue) clients...your mid-market clients.
